Le Tour Stage 3: Every Day is a GC Day
A drama-filled day produces high drama, but for all the wrong reasons
In theory, the Tour’s third stage was supposed to be the first day where the GC contenders took a back seat and the sprinters got to come out and play. In reality, the rolling stage from Lorient to Pontivy, won by Tim Merlier of Alpecin-Fenix, featured multiple overall contenders hitting the deck and produced bigger time gaps than most mountain stages.
