New BTP Podcast: Svein Tuft on the Absurdities of Modern Cycling & His Unusual Path to the Top
On this week’s episode of the Beyond the Podcast, my co-host Andrew Vontz and I sat down with former top-level professional rider Svein Tuft to discuss his highly unusual path to the top of the sport and his opinion on the state of modern cycling.
The conversation with Svein was one of the most profound I’ve ever had on the show, and he takes on so many modern trends with a surprising directness and thoughtfulness, that I highly recommend taking the time to give it a listen.

Spencer, this was one of the most personally impactful interviews I've ever heard. Svein's philosophy, which is basically doing what you love without too much expectation for short term rewards, is not new. It's very traditional in fact. But it's not the most popular philosophy these days, in any discipline. Yet look how well it worked for him. He ended up having the long-term success and results. Plus he enjoyed the "ride" at the same time. I have never heard someone who trusted so completely in just following his heart, and not putting too much pressure on himself. I'll never forget this interview. I hope I can put some of this into practice. Thank you!
